How to use Kubotans in self-defense

Kubotan, or small sticks, are used as weapons by Okinawan masters in martial arts. They were originally made of bamboo but have since been replaced by metals and plastic.

They measure approximately 5cm in length and 2cm in width.

The Kubotan is designed for striking at an opponent's eyes and nose. It can also be used against other body parts, such as elbows or knees.

Women often use Kubotan because they are easy to carry, lightweight, and can easily be concealed when not needed.

You must be able to use the Kubotan correctly.

Also, practice using the Kubotan to ensure you hit the right spots.

The following steps show you how to use a Kubotan in self-defense:

  1. Stand in front of the attacker
  2. Hold the Kubotan between your thumbs and index fingers.
  3. Arrest the Kubotan with one arm raised above your head.
  4. Swing the Kubotan downward towards the attacker's face.
  5. Attack the attacker with a fist.
  6. As the Kubotan strikes the target you should be capable of seeing its impact.
  7. Keep swinging the Kubotan up and down until you hear a "thwack".
  8. Step back and lower the Kubotan.
  9. If you want to continue fighting, repeat Steps 1-7.
